As we all know, pets are our special friends. Therefore, if we are living with pets, we should decorate our home, balcony, or garden habitable for them. For example, when we pet a cat, we should be extra careful about safety instructions for indoor and outdoor places, as well. For this purpose, a cat window box, cat solarium, cat window sill perch ideas will help you to design a cat-friendly home.

Safety First: Prevent your cats from any accident

Cats love to move around, climb and jump. In this regard, there is a debate about whether they should be inside or outside. To illustrate, outdoor cats have more natural lives and a rich environment. However, when we think about many dangers waiting for cats outside of the home (i.e. cars, dogs, other cats, rabies, or any other viruses), it will be better to make them stay inside. Even a simple fight with other cats or dogs can damage your cat seriously. Also, due to high infection risks, outdoor cats should see veterinary more times, which will be an extra burden for your budget. Therefore, keeping the cats inside with a safe view of the outside looks preferable.

In addition, every cat owner should also be aware of the curiosity and hunting instincts of cats are a natural skill that all cats have. Therefore, if your cat is focused to hunt a fly flying outside of an open window, it can jump out of the window regardless of height. When cats are in hunting mode, they lose their ability to be aware of their surroundings because of being highly focused. Besides, cats perceive the city crowd and high buildings as an artificial environment in which they live. So, we need to create both natural and safe places for cats in our homes. At this point, I want to introduce you to three different cat window ideas and cat-friendly herb garden ideas for creating safe, natural, and fun places for cats such as 1) cat window box, 2) cat solarium, and 3) cat window sill perch.

Cat Window Box (Catio)

The first idea that I want to mention is cat window boxes. This can simply be defined as a box mounted outside of the window. With this beautiful idea, cats will have a place only on their own window. In these cat window boxes, they can watch the garden and sleep under the sunlight. Also, you can put some cat-friendly herb gardens or some amusing toys into these boxes so that they will have more fun in these catios (means patio for cats). You can easily create a lovely window box compatible with your home with the help of a metalworking shop.

Cat Solarium

Secondly, you can build a cat solarium by decorating your window with plexiglass or a wooden frame as is shown in the photos. These ideas will provide your cats with a 180-degree view of the outside. When they are sleeping or watching outside in the cat solarium, they will be safe without any dangers.

Window Sill Perch

The third comfy idea is the cat window sill perch. Especially lazy cats love this idea so much since it is a bed mounted on the window. They can sleep or watch the world on these window sill perch with more sunshine. With these comfy beds, they will have more quality sleeping time.

Cat-Friendly Herb Garden

Lastly, if you want to make your home more livable for your cats, the cat herb garden is recommended. You can use different cat-friendly plants in cats’ places, such as petunias, snapdragons, zinnia, impatiens, violet, bugbane, bromeliads, spider Ivy, pansies, aster, sweet potato vine, and marigolds. On the other hand, you should be careful about the selection of plants since some plants can be poisonous to cats. Hope you all love these functional decoration ideas and be inspired to do them for your lovely cats.
