When moving into a new house or re-decorate your office, you usually need new decoration ideas. If you are a fan of the flowers, we have a great hanging plant shelf idea for you. Thanks to this concept, you will get your planters together and save spaces. However, you do not have to use hanging plant shelf indoor decoration. Just as an example, you can use it to decorate your balcony or outdoor spaces.

There are lots of hanging decoration ideas, such as hanging basket planter or hanging plant shelf. If you have a hanging basket planter or herb garden decoration theme in your house or balcony, hanging basket planter will consummate your decoration concept. Now, we can list what you need. In addition to that, we usually try to list needs that most of you already have in your house. That is, you will not have to buy a new professional tool.

Material/Needs:

  • Rope or Wire
  • Planter
  • Drill
  • Tape
  • Jigsaw
  • Pine Shelf
  • Compass
  • Safety Goggles and Gloves

Firstly, you should decide the size of the pine shelf. Make sure that you have enough space for the chosen pine shelf. Otherwise, you will have to cut it to huddle. When you choose the best-fit pine shelf, you can drill each corner (holes should be placed 2-3 cm from corners). In addition to that, the rope (or wire) should easily thread in holes. You can drill slightly wider than the width of your rope. Here, we should suggest that you can use wire or rope. However, please make sure that you have enough rope or wire for your space.

Secondly, measure the planter that you have. You can buy a new one or use that already you have. After measuring the planter, you can make a hole in the pine shelf. For example, if your planter widest point is 10 cm, you can make a hole  8 or 9 cm. Thanks to it, the planter will fit in the hole. Now, you can use your tape for choosing a better location to make a hole. When you specify the location that you want to make a hole for the planter, you can use your jigsaw and cut it properly. Here, you should wear safety goggles and gloves for protection.

You are almost done! Please gently thread your rope (or wire) from holes and hang it to proper screw. You can use a screw that you already have or you can do it yourself a new one for your creative hanging plant shelf.

Additional Suggestions

  • Paint your planter or pine shelf to have a better outlook.
  • Varnish the pine shelf to protect it from water and moisture to use for a long time.
  • Use stone herb markers to classify what you have in planters.
  • To have a rich outlook, you can use pallet planter
