If you are searching for a thrilling crafting activity for kids, nature-inspired crafts are ideal for kids to connect with mother nature and learn to love and respect it at an early age. For example, you can create many DIY ideas with a simple pinecone such as Christmas ornaments, flowers, wreaths, and so on. Here is an amazing crafting idea: pinecone animal crafts. You can create these lovely crafts in just a few steps: Collect pinecones and turn them into a sweet object that will fit your kid’s room perfectly.

The pinecone animal crafts simply require a few materials. The outcome work is a charming tiny character that children love to play with. It is both fun and useful for kids to practice cutting with scissors while also being a quick project for those with short attention spans. It is budget-friendly as well.

1) Start collecting pinecones from nature!

The first step for creating pinecone animal crafts should be collecting pinecones from mother nature. This is also one of the creative outdoor activities for kids. Pinecones are quite easy to find, they are simply everywhere. When you start feeling like you have enough pinecones for this activity, our recommendation is to have some more considering upcoming activities.

When it is time to transform them into a sweet decoration object: A key to make both the process and the outcome work more thrilling is to paint the pinecones. There are a variety of ways to paint pinecones. Yet we will look over two choices embraced by most DIY lovers. Both are quite simple:

1) As a first, you can dip them into latex or acrylic paint: Both latex and acrylic work well on the pinecones.

2) Second way is to spray them by using spray paint. While dipping pine cones into latex or acrylic will give them a vivid, consistent look, spray paint makes them look slightly frosted.

2) Create the pinecone animal figure:

The options are basically endless, yet again we will look over two of them. The ones that are quite easy and fun to make: The first is making it out of polymer clay, or as an alternative way; cutting pieces of wool blend felt. To start with; the first option seems to be worth trying out. Forming polymer clay and transforming it into adorable animal figures are quite enjoyable.

A tip we like to share is that: While rolling out the polymer clay in your hands, it is better to do it by using a piece of greaseproof paper. This will help prevent it from sticking to surfaces you don’t want it to. Another tip that should be pointed out is that: Pine cones tend to expand when they remain on heated surfaces. This means your perfectly formed polymer clay pieces may fall off and get deformed during the baking process. Make sure that you have your baking sheet completely covered in greaseproof paper to prevent them from sticking. Also, You may need your glue gun to hand afterward!

When it comes to the second option: It is as enjoyable as making out of clay. This basically starts with drawing the figures on the wool blend felt and cutting it with a scissor. Then by using glue, assemble the parts of the figure that you like to create and glue the pieces holding on the pinecone. When it is finished, let’s give it some time to dry.

The outcome work possibly ranges from a bear to a fox, an owl to a stork. They are all adorable. There is no ending to DIY ideas. Feel free to get inspired by ideas that we share or choose to create your own design by using creativity up to your taste!
