We have already mentioned some preventions about cat safety ideas; 3 safe window ideas and building a balcony cat patio (or catio) with the aim of making your home and balcony more livable for our animal friends. In this regard, the security issue is getting more important since we all know that many pets either run away from home or fall from places such as windows and balconies because of irresponsible caregivers. Therefore, today, I would like to give two ideas on how to make your gardens safer for cats. The first one is fencing in your garden wall. The second one is building a catio in your garden.

1) Cat Fencing

The first thing that can make our cats walk freely and safely in our gardens is to fence in the garden walls with chicken wire or deer netting. To perform this idea, you need to have suitable garden walls for fencing. Besides, the fences that you will build on your garden walls should have a slope of approximately 90 degrees. This leaning will keep your cats in the garden because this will make the fences hard to climb.

Furthermore, instead of fencing, you can also build a cat path with the same materials. Keep in mind that for all processes, you should tie the wires strictly. Lastly, thanks to these fencing ideas, you can let your cats walk freely in your garden. But still, it will be better to take a look occasionally.

2) Catio Ideas

In the article about balcony decoration for cats we have written before, we have mentioned many details about catio. Although they are almost the same as an idea, there are a few minor differences. First of all, the catio built in the gardens can often be larger. The larger area means different accessories and design possibilities for a catio. In addition, catio in the garden should be made with more durable materials as they are exposed to open air.

As you can see in the examples in the photos, you can build fun and safe catios according to the suitability of your garden. You can also build catios very easily in the unusable (blindspots) areas of your garden. In this article, you will find various ideas about garden catios and hope you will all be amazed.
